Please note the following contains some possible spoilers for book 4. It
is more stuff about the title. So be warned and do not read any further
if you want to avoid such comments!

The word goblet has come up before in the book, or at least the UK
versions. In PS 'Malfoy was banging his goblet on the table'. This was
when Slytherin had 'won' the house cup just before Dumbledore announced
the extra pointes for Harry and others. I believe their are other similar
references in the books.

I don't have my copy of Sorcerer's Stone handy, but I don't think "goblet"
is used in the American version. If I remember correctly, the sentence
goes something like, "Malfoy was banging his cup on the table."

Personally, I prefer chalice to goblet. It sounds more...I don't know,
smooth and mysterious. As for Americans not knowing what a chalice is,
THAT'S WHAT THE DICTIONARY IS FOR. In my Spanish class, whenever we'd
ask my professor what a certain word meant, he'd say, "What, was the
dictionary broken?" And even if you don't have a dictionary around,
ask an adult! Jeez...I'm so sick of this "dumbing down" of America. If
people are too lazy to find out info. on their own, it's their loss.

*ahem* Sorry. I felt the need to rant. I'll just stop now. </rant> *g*
