Funny...I love these questions, and don't find them annoying at all.

As for how does Harry receive mail from the Dursley's...I like the
Hedwig theory, although I can't imagine Mr. Dursley wanting to touch
the owl. Because we know there is a large muggle born population at
Hogwarts, I would suppose that they have the ability to receive "regular"
mail...otherwise, people like Hermione will never hear from her parents!

As for your question about Snape's puzzle...it is interesting...sort
of chicken and the egg. The room must start with no fire at either
the entrance or the exit...person walks in, magical fire springs up,
and they have to choose the potion to move forward or move back. If the
room "resets" itself, it would have done so after one person exited,
but did not. Also, we know that Harry and Hermione walked into the
room and the fire sprang up which means it somehow had returned to
its original state...therefore, I think we can chalk this one up to,
"Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the story"

Interesting point tho...thank you for making me think about that one!
