It isnt a typo...i read it somewhere that they had to go through an change
the book a bit accordinglty to the place that it would go out...like
in the
uk some of there words may be diffrent to the language we use in the us
an canada...
Well, but you're referring to changes like making a "jumper" from the
UK version into a "sweater" in the US version or changing "bonnet" to
"hood" when referring to Mr. Weasley's car. They did make those changes
for the American version, so that the American readers (the American
children readers in particular) could get the full flavor of the books.
But, the words "ancestor" and "descendant" mean the same thing in the UK
as they do in the US. I'm an avid genealogist, and it would be a huge
surprise to me if these words mean different things in the UK. I would
wager they don't, mainly because most of my ancestral lines are from
Britain and I've done a fair bit of research there.
I disagree that the change was a way of Americanizing the book.
