I don't know if this answers your in-house romance question, Skimmel,
but I seem to recall that Ron's parents were both from Gryffindor. But
then, we don't know for sure that they dated while still in school. I
suspect James and Lily did, but I don't recall any mention of their
house(s). I suspect at least one of them was Gryffindor, however.

But you're not the only one who's wondered about Hogwarts' policy on
romance. The only couple we've seen from Harry's generation, is Percy
and Penelope (she's a Ravenclaw, like Cho. What *is* it with Gryffindor
guys and Ravenclaw girls, anyway <g>?) Anyway, back on track. Percy and
Penelope spent a whole school year (except when Penelope was petrified)
sneaking around corridors and meeting in empty classrooms. When Ginny
caught them, Percy even made her promise not to tell.

My question is, why all the secrecy? Is it just to avoid his brothers'
teasing? It hasn't stopped him from putting on airs about being Prefect
or Head Boy. Or is it because Hogwarts discourages romance, or even
makes rules against it?

I've also wondered about the professors. I have yet to see any of them
introduce a wife or husband. Are they all single? If not, when do the
married see their spouses, only in the summer? For that matter, why
couldn't two of them be married to each other (aside from maybe having
two Professor So-and-so's)?

Just some food for thought.

Melanie
