8, in particular. Why not July 31, since that's Harry's birthday, and the
books all seem to start with his birthday? Not that I'm arguing,

It would be nice for release to be on Harry's birthday, wouldn't it? I
suspect one of the main reasons they picked July 8th is because it's a
Saturday. There were plenty of kids who played hooky from school when
Books 2 and 3 were released, and I read somewhere that they wanted to
avoid that. :--) Although in July, I would think most schools here and
in the UK would be on holiday.

Penny (who has a group of friends ready to camp out at the local B&N on
the night of July 7th if need be)
