<Oh darn, I totally had my heart set on Terry Gilliam.>
Well, I had my heart set on Spielberg! Then, I decided Alan Parker might
be okay. Ah, well . . . can't have everything.
<Personally, I'd rather see an unknown British youngster play Harry
(I'd rather see the entire cast as unknown Brits), but if I have to
choose from one of the aforementioned - Haley Joel Osment, Jonathan
Lipnicki, Jake Lloyd or Frankie Muniz - I'd put all of my money on
Jonathan Lipnicki. He's got just the right combination of quirky-ness
and cute adorability.>
I want an unknown Brit to be cast as Harry!!! And unknown Brits for Ron
& Hermione too! Beyond that, I don't care so much. None of the Osment,
Lipnicki, Lloyd or Muniz kids has dark hair, right? Are any of them
Brits? I don't know why we Yanks think it has to be some blond American
kid in any title role. Don't get me wrong -- I think Osment is a wonderful
actor. And, I did look closely at him at the Academy Awards with that in
mind -- but he just isn't *Harry* in my opinion. Love Lipnicki as well,
but again . . . I don't see him as Harry.
Yes, Voicelady -- Michael Caine was wonderfully gracious! That was
a tough race from my perspective. I'd have probably given the nod to
Osment, but loved Caine as well.
