Ah, yes. Terry Gilliam. I agree, he would have been best. I'm a little
disappointed about the Chris Columbus decision... although I am glad WB
is trying for an unknown Brit. Terry Gilliam would have made the movie
really graphically "Hogwarts-y". Of course, I kind of imagine the movie
scenes as sort of Burton-esque - sort of like Edward Scissorhands and
Batman. Chris Columbus... well... come on. Sure, Home Alone was funny. I
love Mrs. Doubtfire. Even Nine Months is funny at times. But those
movies are NOTHING like Harry Potter, and I have this awful suspicion
that we're going to get a lot of sight gags and gross-out humor and oh,
I know, most of that has to do with the screenplay, but just let me be
disappointed, okay? ;)

Anyway, sorry to boo-hoo. Another thing, though, while I have a couple
of minutes... I'm kinda miffed that they've decided to name it after the
American version. Of course, this stems from my whole argument that there
doesn't NEED to be an American version... but if they split up the books,
are they going to do like 50 takes of each scene with different words
so they can cut-and-paste in the editing room so both the American and
British audiences will have their own dialect "quirks"? Can you imagine?

:)
