They're really pretty straight forward.
To enter a Harry Potter for Grown-ups chat, just click on the word "Chat"
on the left of the screen. (Home : Messages : Photos : Chat) That will
start the chat application. You'll be able to see what everyone else
is typing in the main section of the window. A smaller window near the
bottom is for what you want to say. Type it in, press Enter and your
words will appear in the main window behind your Handle. It will look
something like this...
Skimmel_98 : Yes. But Hufflepuff has never won the Quidditch cup. Its
only been Gryffindor and Slytherin.
Sarvalsha : Only because Slytherin cheats.
Norevoli : We don't know that Slytherin actually cheats. They take every
advantage of the rules.
Yahoo Messenger (get it by clicking this link
: http://messenger.yahoo.com/ ) its sort of like a minibrowser. If
you have set up a "My Yahoo" account it will show up portions of that
whenever you have the application open. The first window is the "Friends"
list. If you have a friend who is currently running Messenger you'll see
it on the screen. Click on their handle and you can send them a message
that will pop-up on their screen instantly. Then the two of you can chat
back and forth in "real time." You can add others to the chat but that's
a little more complicated.
There's another way to try it out. On the top of the screen for the club
there's a section labelled "Online now." These are Messenger users who
have the progam turned on. If you click on one of them, say Skimmel_98,
a new window will open that will allow you to send an "Instant Message"
to one of those. In this case, me. After you send your message, another
window will pop open. That's the Messenger "Lite." You can use that to
try out the system.
Give it a try with me. I only rarely bite and I've had all my shots.
