Actually, what happened was, this quirky little young lady with a heart
of gold, whom I had met whilst performing with a repertory company here
in Manhattan, recommended the books to me. Then my twin brother bought
me all three for Christmas, so I dove in.

Oh - as far as HP being better or worse than, say, Dahl, I think it's
pretty much an apples and oranges thing. Way different. The HP books
are NOT the very best as far as fantasy goes - that honor goes to The
Princess Bride by William Goldman, hands down - but it's better than a
lot of the children's stuff I've read, and I've read a lot.
