You know, I just can't understand all the controversy about religious
messages in Harry Potter. Sometimes I just feeling like screaming,
"IT'S FANTASY. IT'S NOT REAL. GET OVER IT."

it's the job of the parent to teach their kid to distinguish between
fantasy and reality. If their child can't do that, and insists that
witchcraft is real (in the sense of flying broomsticks, magic wands,
etc.) it's the fault of the parent. My aunt reads Harry Potter to her
third-grade class and, as far as I know, she has not had one parent
complain.

You know, I had a big controversy similar to what Harry Potter books
are facing in one of my other online groups...a girl who practiced Wicca
wanted to join, and my best friend was dead-set against it because she
firmly believed with all of her heart that Wiccanism was witchcraft,
and since the Bible said witchcraft was wrong, she wouldn't be a decent
Christian if she voted for this girl to join. We had our first knock-down
drag-out fight about it. I'm a Christian too, but my personal belief
is that it's not my place to judge, it's God's, and all I can do in
the meantime is love my neighbor as myself. My friend later left the
group because the rest of us voted yes, (and we're still friends, BTW)
but I'm having major flashbacks.

*whew* Thanks for letting me vent. Sorry if I offended anyone. :)
