[HPforGrownups] Is Dumbledore right in the head?

Actually, Dumbledore reminds me of a jolly Zen Master. They often say
things that seem to be silly or completely eccentric. It's only because
they've discovered The Great Joke of the Universe. Once you reach that
stage, you tend not to take the world around you too seriously, because you
see things from a Cosmic viewpoint. Even if Evil triumphs, you tend to
shrug your shoulders and say, "Ah, well, such is the nature of this plane of
existence." You also tend to have enormous reserves of power and wisdom
that are not apparent to the average person. Being thought of as a senile,
trusting old idiot is a wonderful disguise.

One thing that worries me about Albus Dumbledore is his occasional eccentric
behaviour, usually revealing itself in his childish sense of humour

e.g.:

"...I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber!
Oddment! Tweak!"

and continuing through anecdotes about socks and chamber pots, and so on.

I get the impression that Dumbledore is going to become increasingly
unpredictable as he heads for senility. It may have something to do with
the fact that he keeps some of his thoughts in a pensieve - what effect
must that have on his declining brain? There's also his advanced age -
there are several references to him looking old and weary at the end of GoF.

I don't think Dumbledore will die until the last gasp of Book 7, but I do
think he could become dangerous. As a powerful wizard with an unhinged
brain, who knows what he might do?

Just a few random thoughts, before I go out to get pissed.
