For those who were keeping up with my travels, I left Oregon Last
week for a Trip to London on a personal quest to try and locate the
Leaky Cauldron. Best guess, based on the various descriptions from
the books, placed it somewhere on Charing Cross Road, North of
Trafalgar Square, and probably South of Trottenham Court Road.
I have created a new File Folder for Location of the Leaky Cauldron,
with photos taken in the area.
With the Help of "BabyNick" and "Flying Ford Anglia-Neal" we were
able to pinpoint it's location on Charing Cross Road, just South of
Oxford Street by about two blocks. This places it between a Book
Store and a Record Shop, both located on Charing Cross Road. From the
front it appears as a simple doorway, to our Muggle eyes. We can
only guess what it's appearance is to a magical person.
In addition to being an area of many book stores and record shops,
just South of this particular block, is the theatre district with
several of the more popular London plays are being performed. This
would also help to hide anyone who might look or dress unusually. The
locals or tourists would probably consider them to be a performer.
It was very common to see people dressed as Sherlock Holmes,
Electronic Robots, and others strange sites as these street
performers worked to collect donated coins for their performances.
Seeing someone the size of Hagrid, would only be passed off as one of
the local performers in costume.
For those who are interested in locating this area, Walk North on
Charing Cross Road from Trafalgar Square, or take the Underground to
Tottenham Court Road Station and go South or the Leicester Square
Station and go North. Cross road will be Denmark Street and Charing
Cross Road.
BTW, there is a good Quick Chinese Take Away, about two doors down
from the Leaky Cauldron.
