I get the feeling, from the descriptions of the figurines picked out
of the sack before the !st challenge in GOF that Rowlings Dragons are
much more Lizard- like than serpent like- thus they wouldn't speak
parsltongue.
I would think that dragons, if they turn out to be more than just
really mean animals, would have their own unique language- which may
be shared with lizards.
(Anyone remember the old short sotory from one of the Alfred
Hitchcock anthologies about a scientist creating a dragon by
repairing the defects in the heart of a baby alligator?)
On Good snakes- I was hoping, when Sirius sent a tropical Bird with
Harry's message, that we were going to find out that Sirius was
recovering in Brazil, and Had met up with Harry's friendly Boa from
the zoo somehow. (Don't ask me how, since as far as we know Sirius
does not speak Parseltongue.)
I'd really like to think that that snake made it home, curled up snug
inside the walls of a fancy cruise ship, snacking on tasty rats and
mice well fattened by the gourmet kitchen.
