For those moments of absolute boredom (like waiting for my ride on the way home from the job interview today, lol... no kid, so no problems!), I grab a multitude of books, some even dealing in the sf sphere. The latest, a slim volume that fit nicely into my briefcase, The Wizard of Earthsea. I recall reading it in Jr. Hi, but it's been soooo long since then--I can't seem to recall all the details. After reading about three chapters then, I returned home and started devoting myself to answering about 100 emails, which turned out to have about 5-10 duplicates of every email that yahoo sends out. Anyone else having that problem? Sighs... if it's not one bug, it's another.

btw, there's someone over in the club asking that wand/lily question again.

  >I'm new to the club. I really enjoy the HP books. Does anyone have any
suggestions for books to read while we wait for the next Harry Potter book?

*I've just read Witch Week by Diana Wynne Jones. It's another book about
children who have magical powers, and it's another children's book (though
I really don't think the HP books are children's books as such).

*Next book I am going to start tonight is Wizards Hall by Jane Yolen.

Or if you want to stick with the Harry Potter adventures there are some
excellent fanfics out there. Two that come to mind are "Paradigm of
Uncertainty" and "A Sirius Affair", both can be found in eGroups I apologize
for not having the URL for you. PoU is written by a lady named Lori Summers
and ASA is written by Penny and Carole, they are both excellent, and have
all of us who have read it sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next
  chapters for both.
