Elizabeth,
I too do tarot readings (still learning, for the last 8 years... it's not the time, but the knowledge that makes me call myself novice!) and your theories make perfect sense. I also study Astrology. Yes, I do believe that my Jupiter hanging so close to my Virgo makes me excess in alot of things (like posting, Neil do you too have this trait? LOL) but I really don't think that
1. She's doing it right! The first thing I was taught was to never never be negative, even if the tower turns up. The cards are a warning, but not a death-sentence. Nothing is in stone.
2. I think that those little predictions are like a type of "deja vu" type thing I do on occasion. A friend dials up, tells me she lost her cigarettes, and I ask if she looked in the right side of her favorite chair. She finds them there. I don't know if it was a lucky guess or I was on-beam with that. I do things like this often enough, tho. I was there when my ex-sister-in-law met a man, and I turned to Barry and said, he is the one, knowing nothing about him. They will be married this October, after 5 years relationship. I call those type KNOWing. Perhaps Mdm T is the same way (teacup, etc...).
I just can't stand her methods.... Harry should die at least once daily, if she 's right!
Sighs.
Dee
Wondering if this post makes sense, or she has had too much elderberry wine to celebrate her birthday?

Comments from a tarot reader:
Surprise, surprise!
I think both Trelawney and the Centaurs are full of *it*. (whatever "it" may
be to you ).
I read tarot, but I do not believe that any tarot reader can predict the
future. I use tarot to help my querants understand and put in order their
thoughts and discover the path they are traveling. I do come up with
outcomes - but they are "this is where you want to go" outcomes, not "this is
what will happen to you" outcomes.
Trelawney takes herself too darned seriously, of course. Except that - she
also apparently channels (on very rare occasions and not by choice). When
she is receiving messages that may actually have some predictive value, I
believe she's much like the guy in 3rd Rock from the Sun who is along with
the rest because he's got a "thing" in his head and receives messages from
the Big Giant Head.
She's not getting it right because she's "attuned" or whatever she would call
it - she's just being used by higher powers.
JKR seems to have what I believe is an appropriate skeptisms regarding
fortune tellers.
Love & Light,
Elizabeth
