What to read in the meantime

I also love Ursula K. LeGuin. Especially _The Lathe of Heaven_ -
though perhaps not because it is the best (I haven't read it since I
was 14); more because it was the first book of hers that I read.
_The Dispossessed_ was good, too...

However, I haven't seen anyone mention the _His Dark Materials_
trilogy by Philip Pullman. Of course, I have to say this in warning:
it's not finished yet, so don't go and read the first 2 and then get
mad at me because you have to wait until October 10th to read the
last one. If you don't mind waiting for the next book in ANOTHER
series, though, I'd really recommend these books. Sort of a nice
blend between sci-fi and fantasy, though perhaps they lean more
towards fantasy. Usually categorized as Young Adult Fiction - but as
many of us seem to not mind reading what are classified as
kiddie-lit, I don't have any qualms about that.

First book: The Golden Compass(US)/Northern Lights(UK)
Second: The Subtle Knife
Third: The Amber Spyglass (due in October)

I completely enjoyed them - although I'm really mad at the fact that
I set myself up for MORE anxiety waiting for the last one. DUMB! :)
