Except that the house looked odd and discombobulated to Harry when he
saw it in CoS. He had only seen it on the outside but thought it
looked like a stone pigpen, to which a number of additions had been
added and "it looked as if it was held up by magic, which, considered
Harry, it probably was." or something to that effect.
So it seems to me that the house must have more than a "normal two
story house" outside.
