  We've discussed this before and I think that most agree that the 
  celebrations at Hogwarts are, for the most at least, secular.  I am a 
  Christian but one of my best friends is Hindu and she is celebrating 
  Christmas for the first time this year, so I can buy the scenario of 
  the books easily. 

  Also I was thinking of writing a Holiday themed fanfiction that would 
  have Hermione as being Jewish.  Does anyone see any problems,(e.g. 
  explicit details that show she isn't Jewish) in the books that I may 
  have overlooked???
