Mom versus Mum

Well I quickly searched my books (American editions) for the Mom/Mum 
references and found a few obscure ones.  iwould have to do a better 
look-over but it seems to me that my SS (I think it's the 45th 
printing) and I found Mom. In the other books however I found Mum. 
Does that seem consistent with everyone else's books?  Is it possible 
that it was changed in subsequent editions?
