Yeah this topic was beaten to death awhile back, partially by Neil 
(no offence) and I believe instigated by myself.

The simplist explanation is that Jo is writing archtypes, and even 
though Dumbledore does make mistakes he is still, seemingly, and 
archtype of good in the same way that Voldemort is an archtype of 
bad...
