No, you are not alone.  I really don't like the US cover art on books 1,2,
or 3.  These covers make Harry look way too much like Waldo in the "Where's
Waldo" kids books.  I had the worst time dispelling this image in my brain.

In my opinion GoF isn't too bad and a lot better than the other 3.
