Too true. There were so many times during my school career when the Head of
School (our PC term for Head Boy...) was picked because he was a rugger
bugger (trans: fixated on rugby) or because the Headmaster liked him. The
ability to form a coherent sentence was less important than the ability to
look imposing in Chapel to quiet people down. Fortunately, when I was in the
Upper Sixth (US: Senior year), one of my best friends was HB, and actually
had two braincells to rub together.
