Writer Sandra Tsing Loh has said repeatedly that the secret of a happy 
marriage is separate televisions. Her husband can watch out-of-focus 
documentaries on boring subjects in the living room while she watches 
shamefully sleazey specials (she mentioned MTV's "Pimps and Hoes 
Ball") in the bedroom.

Tim and I have our version of this. He has a TV, VCR, and universal 
remote in the living, and I have a radio/mini-stereo, VCR, and two 
remotes in the bedroom.
