Has anyone (but me) wondered why Harry didn't try to *talk* to the
basilisk in the Chamber? Why he didn't yell at it to attack Riddle, or
go away, or anything? He spoke to the snake at the duel without
thinking, almost reflexively. Especially after it was blinded, he could
have confused it. Or would that have messed up a great fight scene?
