I have to agree.  The Sorting Hat "sees" what in the wearer what they 
themselves might not necessarily see in themselves or think that they 
lack -but are wishing that they had.  It's all about the choices that 
Dumbledore talks about.  I was also thinking that maybe it somehow can 
see what is to come.  I was thinking about Wormtail for instance.  
Perhaps he will surprise everyone and do something brave - after all 
he does owe a life-debt to Harry.
