We never said this. And it's *not* the only thing I want to do. It's not the
only thing I *do.* But it's a damn important thing, raising the next
generation, no matter how much the schools try to do it for me, and I'm proud
to let it be my primary definer right now.

I do, *just* a tad. JKR didn't write a sociological treatise, she wrote a work
of fiction, a terribly good one with very realistic characters. There are
female characters all through the book, in various positions, and while the
"spot" of the prose doesn't focus on them, it shows pretty clearly that the
door is open to women in the wizarding world. I don't see a glass ceiling
problem, I don't see active discrimination, I do see effective
characterization. I don't think authors have to try to effect social change
through their work; I think they have to *write.* She does, very well.
