Look, this may be painfully obvious, but I'm going to point it out anyway.
JK Rowling says that the way she works is that she writes for the books for
herself. Ergo, she will put in gay characters if she wants to do so. If
she doesn't she won't.
Given that this is her modus operandi (and that it works so well), I am
personally rather uncomfortable with trying to dictate to her what she
should want to write about.

gay characters, simply because she wanted to.
