Perhaps, living in Malfoy's mansion, Dobby knew the first prediction of Prof. T?  And if that had to do with Harry, and hasn't come true yet, then that would be a reason to keep Harry Potter alive.  If Harry dies, then the hope of the world goes with him--Voldie would win.  And despite being Malfoy's lackey, Dobby really is a good person at heart.
