Tolerance does not mean you agree with someone, or "tolerate"
injustice. It means that you agree that everyone has the right
to voice their opinion.
Then there is always the discussion about what to do about hate
speech, or Nazi speech -- what does tolerance mean?
Then there is the discussion of civility --- the promotion of
discourse that speaks to the issue and does not condemn or
characterize the speaker.
I hear that Martha thinks us left wingers are not tolerant; Martha,
why don't you email me privately since I would be interested in
specifics.
