Unintentional magic

We've speculated that Harry is unusual because he did magic
unintentionally, before he found out about himself and the wizarding
world. But I just ran across Colin Creevy's little speech to Harry in
book 2, where he says he never knew any of the stuff he did was
magic....so maybe the magical talent just manifests when the will is
focused enough (or in Colin's and Harry's case, smallish that they are,
in self-preservation..)?
