I don't know any French at all, so pardon the fool--but I had always assumed
the "Vol" in Voldy was connected to some form of the latinate volo (to wish)
instead of volo (to fly).  Thus wish of death, or something of that ilk.
Voldemort = Death wish.  Sounds rather nice, what?
