I like Douglas Adams's take on the whole thing: simply get a psychic 
to figure out of the cat is alive or not by reading its mind.  It 
would probably be very amusing to set up the experiment with 
Professor Trelawney's involvement and have her try to *predict* 
whether the cat will be alive or not when the box is opened.
