The official ghost of each Hogwarts House:
Gryffindor: Nearly Headless Nick
Slytherin: the Bloody Baron
Hufflepuff: the Fat Friar
Ravenclaw: the Grey Lady

It is unlikely that the ghosts are the actual founders, unless Godric 
Gryffindor over one thousand years ago was also Sir Nicholas de 
Mimsey-Porpington 500 years ago.

Which reminds me, has anyone mentioned that, on the Hogwarts shield 
of arms, the Gryffindor lion and Slytherin serpent are 
punching at each other while the Ravenclaw eagle and Hufflepuff 
badger watch?
