It's an original theory, Rita, I'll say that.

We just don't know. JKR has modeled Hogwarts in most ways on the 
English private school system, which for many of the teachers was 
historically a monastic lifestyle. ("Goodbye Mr. Chips" type folks)

If the advocates of a 300 member student body are right, or even if 
I'm (450-500) right, there is a great deal of room in the castle for 
teacher's apartments. Any teacher with a family can stroll down to 
Hogsmeade to his little cottage or even Apparate from there, outside 
the grounds.  

There's a zillion ways teachers could have families, we just haven't 
been told. JKR condenses a year of Harry's life into 300+ or 700+ 
pages, and of necessity leaves out more than she puts in.
