As for JKR wondering why no one ever begs her not to kill off
Hermione...well, it's not because we'd rather see Hermione dead than Ron.
It's because we don't get that inexplicable air of doom from Hermione that
we get from Ron.  Hermione doesn't feel like she's not long for this world,
whereas Ron has always felt that way to me.
