Barbara, I see from your sig that you are a breeder of pedigreed cats 
(long-haired Aby's). Don't Cat Shows choose Best and Best Opposite 
Sex (sometimes abbreviated BOX, which confused the hell out of me)in 
each category? Similarly, it could be that the girl with the best 
grades (and other admirable traits) graduated first in her class but 
the boy with the best grades (etc) graduated only 30th in the class, 
as the top 29 students all were girls.
