Not that I presume to make a link between the two things, but the 1970s and
80s were when the Troubles in Northern Ireland really became obvious - this
was when the PTA came in, British troops were sent out there, Bloody Sunday,
miscarriages of justice when people were wrongly imprisoned for crimes they
didn't commit in witchhunts where the most important thing was not to find
the perp but just to prosecute anyone, deaths, bombings, political
assassinations...fairly tumultuous times.
