Amanda--

That makes a lot of sense, very well put.  So, would you think 
something happened after Slyth's fight w/ Gryff to send Slyth down 
the evil road?  Or was it the fight itself?  It seems this is 
something else to wonder about, maybe this has something to do with 
what James and Lily were doing for a living, finding out what 
happened / was going on with Slyth?  Maybe I'm reaching?
