You and my husband should get together. He's advanced the theory that women test the staying power of their men, regularly, before and during marriage. Perhaps some woman authors do the same to
their characters. They want to see a man with the ability to survive (life, and them), and a fictional one (in this respect) is better than reality. At least for us.
We won't get into *his* little foibles. But that folded laundry is *still* on the chair downstairs.
