Hmmm...that's a interesting thing you brought up about the robes. I 
would think they look like choir robes or academic robes since 
Hogwarts is a school. Anyhow, I always thought academic robes 
(especially the Masters robes with the scrolly looking sleeve cuff) 
looked pretty wizardly.

I guess you can always rent out an academic robe for Halloween (or
you 
might be able to purchase one from a supplier).
