Yeah. I know LOTS of writers, but I met Tim because he was one of my teachers when I went to the Clarion Science Fiction Workshop in 1988--he was the best of the six teachers I had. A very gracious gentleman and a
wonderful mentor. We've kept in touch sporadically since.
When I was in graduate school, I interviewed him about the writing of _On Stranger Tide_ for one of my papers for my masters degree. (It was during that interview that I teased him about character development by
dismemberment.) Fascinating experience to interview him--and the paper was fun to write, too. I have a copy of that interview on tape somewhere around here. . .
I do really recommend his fiction.
