I must respectfully disagree. You don't get many characters like 
Snape -- a throughly nasty person who's (as far as we know) on the 
side of the Light; a "good guy" who's not "good."

P.S. I haven't read any of the Dragonlance books, so I can't compare 
him to that Raistlin (sp?) character people were talking about.
