Hi --
I've been meaning to weigh in on this topic. Amanda's post earlier
reminded me --
Voldemort cannot be the father or grandfather of any of the Potters.
Voldemort has no descendants according to Dumbledore. In CoS, he told
Harry that "Voldemort is the last remaining descendant of Slytherin."
Putting aside age differences & the chronology, it simply isn't possible
for him to have fathered any children who survived if we believe
Dumbledore. That raises the whole ancestor v descendent debate -- was
the reference to "last remaining ancestor" in some versions of CoS a
mistake? An editorial goof? But, *if* you assume that it was an
editorial goof and that Dumbledore did intend to say that Voldemort is
the last remaining *descendant* of Slytherin, then it's obvious that
Voldemort has no descendants himself. Even if you think about
"remaining" and say that well, Lily & James are dead & so he could have
fathered either of them & still be the last remaining descendant of
Slytherin, you have to account for Harry (who would then be the a
remaining descendant as well). So . . . Voldemort has no children &
certainly can't be the father or grandfather of any of the Potters.
