It's in a recent thread.
My cubemate, who is partway through GoF, came up with an alternate
explanation when I pointed this out this puzzle to her.
She suggested that the wand might have been left at the Potter's
house, picked up by the good guys (i.e. the cleanup crew who probably
made the wreckage appear to be from a Muggle gas line explosion or
somesuch), and put into safekeeping - perhaps even at Hogwarts.
Quirrel might, under Voldy's possession, have got permission to
examine it, and hid it somewhere to reclaim later,but was defeated;
later, Pettigrew did reclaim it from hiding when Voldy told
him where it was. Of course, there is no evidence for this
hypothesis either, but it works at least as well as the wand going
into limbo with Voldy's spirit and coming back when he
re-incorporated as 'Mini-Voldy'.
