Secret keepers and cloaks, and bears, oh my...

Why did James give him the cloak in the first place?  AND the safe 
key?  Did someone give the little family advance warning--Voldie's 
coming tonite, etc, and he sent them via Owl to AD?  In this muggle 
frame of thinking running parallel, would you have someone the 
checkbook out of your desk, even if you trusted them, if you thought 
you'd need it again later that week?


(Sorry if this sounds funny.  Writing zeros was sooo fun--I lost 
almost 200 posts and am reading them online since it's easier.... my 
mailbox hit 550 in two days of not getting online (not all due to 
computer).  My brain is 'jello'ing.)
