Actually, Dumbledore says in most CoS versions that Voldy is the last
remaining ancestor of Slytherin. If true, this would mean that
Slytherin is Voldy's child, grandchild or great-grandchild, etc. It
doesn't have anything to do with the relationship of Voldy to Harry.
It's only referencing the relationship between Voldy & Slytherin.

It makes far more sense for Voldy to be the last remaining *descendent*
of Salazar Slytherin. Things will be very complicated if Voldy is
somehow Slytherin's ancestor. You are right that if Voldy is
Slytherin's *ancestor,* then it is possible that Harry (and/or either of
his parents) *could* be a descendent of Slytherin (and thus Voldy).
But, there's not necessarily any evidence of a relationship between
Slytherin & either Lily or the male Potters. It would just be plausible
if Voldy were somehow Slytherin's ancestor.

The "ancestor" reference is most likely a typo, although I do remain
disturbed by the way in which the "error" gets corrected & then
resurfaces in & out of various printings & versions of CoS.

Penny
