> The Hand of Glory (remember Draco's shopping trip to Knockturn Alley?)

Hands of Glory are uncommon but useful (dark) magical items; there is a
Hand of Glory story by Seabury Quinn, which I *think* is in one of his
Jules de Grandin stories (de Grandin is essentially a general-purpose
Abraham van Helsing/Private investigator, helping people who have run
into trouble with the supernatural. They were published in _Weird
Tales_, i think, and I am rather fond of them). (Quinn also wrote one
of the most moving, marvelous stories that ever appeared in print,
called simply _Roads_, which was republished as a book by Arkham House
and is one of the most wonderful Christmas presents I ever received....
I need to find someone to read it aloud to, at some future Christmas.....)

Also, there is no need to assume James Potter *gave* Dumbledore the
Gringott's vault key; again that could have been something found in the
wreck of the house that Dumbledore took for safekeeping. As for the
invisibility cloak, I suspect that James gave that to Dumbledore because
he no longer needed it, having perhaps himself learned the
self-invisibility spell.
