Took the words right out of my keyboard!  But I would like to
add a few things.  I do think the resemblance between Voldemort,
James and Harry will be significant, but because of the "last
remaining descendant" quote, I don't believe Voldie fathered
James or Harry.  They could be related otherwise, however, and
I'd like to present a few possibilities.  I'm not trying to
argue that any of these DEFINITELY happened, but only to show
how he could be related to the Potters without being their
ancestor.


1) Voldemort is James' or Lily's half-uncle.  If Voldie is
Slytherin's last remaining descendant, that means he had no
siblings who lived to reproduce (because those siblings and
their issue would also have been SS's descendants).  He could,
however have had a half sibling (sharing one bio parent) by his
non-Slytherin parent (most likely TR Sr).  James or Lily could
be the child of that sibling.  Now, I think this is the least
likely of the three scenarios, because the little we heard about
TR Jr's parents don't leave much room for their having other
children.

2) Voldemort is Lily's cousin once removed.  Maybe, unknown to
TR Jr, TR Sr had a sister who left town as soon as she reached
adulthood, and went on to become Lily and Petunia's grandmother.
 If Voldemort's Slytherin descent was through his mother's side
(as I think likely), then anyone born on his father's side of
the family would be out of the Slytherin-descendant loop.

3) Voldemort is James' second cousin once removed.  As I've said
before, I think Voldie's mother is more likely the Slytherin
descendant, than his father.  But only one of her parents needs
to be SS-descended.  For the sake of argument, I'll say her
father (Voldie's maternal grandfather).  In that case, maybe
Voldie's maternal grandmother had a brother (Voldie's great
uncle), who went on to become James' great-grandfather.

Of the three theories, I think 3 is most likely, since James,
rather than Lily, shares the resemblance between V and Harry.

They are, however, only ideas.  Feel free to pick them apart.
