  OTOH it's never said that Harry and Cedric reappeared in the maze.  They
  could have appeared outside it, in full view of the crowds.  Also remember
  that once Cedric and Harry grasped the cup, the task ended and anyone could
  enter the maze.  Maybe the whole maze disappeared when the cup was touched
  or something.

  Now I have wondered about this a few times, and also about the portakey. It seemes that portakeys only work at spcific times (the 7 past 5 from stoadshead) and remember how they are all standing around while Mr W or Mr D (forget who) counts to second down to 7 past 5. And, given that at the World cup they were being thrown away once they had been used at the world cup they do seem like a single ticket. that aside it must have been a deluxe portakey to work at any old time (like an all day ticket) ok I've convinced myself (if no one else). 

  back to wondering about location of cedric and Harry when they return I've read that section a number of times because it bothers me and I've never come up with "the maze dissapepears when the cup is touched" but Jinx - I think you've got it. I'm a believer!
