What's with green, anyway? I always remember the serpent/witch that killed
Tirian's mother in The Silver Chair was "green as poison," and in Eyes of the
Dragon, a Steven King book lurking in our bathroom, I noticed the Dragon Sand
poison makes green smoke. Why is green so often associated with evil/poison?
Why are we green with envy (which is where Shakespeare went to make his
green-eyed monster green-eyed)? or with jealousy?

Can it really be as simple as this, that it's the opposite of red, color of
health? Or because so many poisons are plant-derived? Do any other
non-European cultures associate green with poison?

Simply having green eyes has no bad connotations of which I am aware (except
the occasional flash when the green-eyed monster rears its ugly head), but it
might be a little tinkling bell, here (or JKR might think green eyes are
really pretty with dark hair, as I do...).
